Amidst the disruption created by Covid-19 and constant evolution and competition amongst content creators, emerging and start-up Film and TV/SVOD companies require more strategic support and direction than ever before. Accelerate is an intense business development programme specifically designed to address that need, focussing on the early stage demands and challenges facing content makers in a fast changing market.
Working with early-stage companies across Film, TV and SVOD, the programme will help build and strength the foundations of the business and give participants the skills required to optimize growth.
What is involved?
Accelerate will be delivered through a combination of intense workshops and one-to-one sessions. The programme will provide companies with the knowledge and insight to build a strong foundation for their business in addition to access to experts, networking and an opportunity to hear from the financiers and commissioners making decisions.
Companies taking part in the programme will:
- Refine their business strategy
- Get expert advice on business planning, funding and finance
- Gain confidence and insight into deal making
- Develop an audience/ market strategy for their slate
- Gain a greater understanding of revenue models, profitability and IP monetisation
- Learn directly from and build their network with proven industry leaders
- Hear from financiers and commissioner behind the decision making
- Receive one to one business coaching throughout the programme
Who is it for?
The programme is for early- stage Production companies working in narrative content across Film, TV or SVOD. Companies should be based in the English regions outside of London, have some proven success and be ready to take their business to the next level. To be considered for the programme, companies must:
- Have a track record in production of TV, SVOD and/ or film (scripted or documentary)
- Have at least one project that is fully financed and delivered or a slate of 3 projects at meaningful stages of development
- Be pre-revenue or have generated sales revenue of less than £100k.
- Be a Limited Company registered on Companies House or currently setting up as a Limited Production company
- Be based in the English regions outside of London
- Be committed to the long-term development of your company

Is there any cost for joining the programme?
This programme is subsidised by Creative England and BFI, therefore there is no cost to companies participating in the programme. At the discretion of Creative England, limited bursary support is available to help subsidise the cost of access needs for participating businesses. Please discuss this directly with the team.
When will it run?
The programme will run for a course of 4 months.
Dates tbc. We would expect you to commit to attending all workshops over the four-month period. There will also be an opportunity for business coaching sessions throughout the programme and you must be committed to building in time to apply learning between the workshops.
Where will the workshops take place?
Workshops will be delivered remotely online via Zoom. If an opportunity arises to bring the cohort together through and in person event then participants will be given enough notice to make necessary travel arrangements. Access needs can be discussed with the programme team.
