It’s time to return to the Hundred Acre Woods in the latest live-action adventure starring Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell. The heart-warming tale follows a now grown-up Christopher Robin who, dealing with the stresses of adulthood, has lost his sense of imagination. But after being reunited with his favourite silly old bear, Winnie-the-Pooh, he’s reminded what it is truly important in life once again.
Filming locations used in Christopher Robin
Much of the filming of the Hundred Acre Wood scenes took place at Ashdown Forest, which was of course the original inspiration for the setting for the Winnie-the-Pooh stories written by A.A. Milne, who lived on the edge of the forest and took his son, Christopher Robin, walking there. Scenes were also shot on location at the magnificent Windsor Great Park where the Filming Unit enjoyed working closely with the Locations Team, managed by Supervising Location Manager Emma Pill, to find just the right locations for Winnie the Pooh and his woodland friends.
Over a period of four weeks the production transformed the entire historic Grade II Listed Dover Marine Station, an old Victorian railway station at the Dover Cruise Terminal into a London railway station, including running trains. Additional railway scenes were shot at Keighley and Worth Valley Railway which offers a range of period filming locations in a compact 5-mile line in Yorkshire and the heritage Bluebell Railway line in East Sussex. The stunning Pennine hills near the village of Marsden (West Yorkshire) also feature as the view from the train carriage window – filmed with support from our Filming Partners at Kirklees Council.
